Painting Lesson

Description: For our painting lesson, we were given the task of creating a painting to represent a desert environment for our cactus that we painted. To start, we had to mix blue and yellow paint together to create green. We used the green to paint our rock, to make it look like a cactus. Next, we had to create the actual background for our painting. First, we folded our paper in half (the long way). Then, we used crayons to draw the actual desert. I chose to make my background as a sunset, however, it was instructed to make it in any way you would like.

Extension: An extension activity for this project would be for students to share a short paragraph, creating a story about their cactus and its biome. Students could name their cactus as well as any of the cacti they choose to put in the background. They then could share these stories in front of the class. Once finished with this project, we could put their artwork and stories in the hallway for others to see and enjoy.
